A mini-league is a three-week series designed to give players the opportunity to practice, improve their skills, and connect with other Mahjong players in a fun, welcoming environment. Each session includes organized play, opportunities to learn from others, and plenty of laughter along the way.
-
Our Mini-Leagues are designed for players who already know the basics of American Mahjong and can independently:
Set up the game and Charleston
Read the National Mah Jongg League card
Understand the flow of play
Call tiles and declare Mahjong
If you have recently completed Mahjong 101 or have some prior experience, a Mini-League is a great next step.
-
Absolutely! Whether you're fresh out of Mahjong 101 or have been playing for years, there's a seat for you. Our leagues are thoughtfully organized to create an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.
-
Yes! Evergreen Mahjong is committed to creating a supportive learning environment. While Mini-Leagues are intended for independent play, an instructor or facilitator will be available to answer questions and provide clarification as needed.
-
Tables and seating arrangements change from week to week to allow players to meet new people and experience a variety of playing styles. Pairs or groups who would like to stay together will be accommodated to the best of our ability and will always be seated together during Week 1.
-
Our Mini-Leagues are designed to be friendly, welcoming, and fun. We thoughtfully group players with others of similar experience whenever possible. While scores are tracked and prizes are awarded, the emphasis remains on practice, community, and enjoying the game.
-
We understand that schedules change. While refunds or make-up sessions are not available for missed league nights, you are welcome to send a friend in your place or we will secure a sub.

The League Championship is a special, optional event held at the end of our September Mini-Leagues. September league participants will receive the opportunity to register for this tournament-inspired event, featuring shorter timed games and a little extra friendly competition. Registration is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
