Your first step into American Mahjong
Never played before or wanting more support to learn the basics? You’re in the right place!
Mahjong 101 is a beginner-friendly class designed for those who are brand new to American Mahjong. During this approximately 2.5–3 hour class, we’ll introduce the tiles, the National Mah Jongg League card, the Charleston, and the basic flow of the game.
All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. You’ll receive hands-on instruction, guided practice, and the opportunity to begin playing a few rounds with support from your instructors. Have a group of 4 more? Ask about private lessons!

Mahjong 101 is a beginner-friendly class designed to teach you the fundamentals of American Mahjong. You'll learn the tiles, the Charleston, basic strategy, and gameplay in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

Not at all! Mahjong 101 is designed for complete beginners. Whether you've never seen a Mahjong tile or have watched others play and want to learn, this class is for you.

No. All materials are provided, including tiles, racks, mats, and instructional materials. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!

You'll have the knowledge and confidence to join guided play sessions, beginner-friendly games, and continue practicing on your own. Most students leave feeling ready to sit at a table and start playing.
