A live, beginner-friendly class where you’ll learn how to play American Mahjong step by step. We’ll walk through tiles, the Charleston, and gameplay together so you can start playing with confidence.

Not at all. This class is designed for beginners — whether you’ve never seen a Mahjong set or just need help making sense of the game.

While it is recommended to have a set (recommendations for beginner sets are on the “Essentials” tab), you can fully participate without one. Having a set will provide hands-on practice, while those without a set will have guided virtual practice.

We meet live on Zoom for a 2.5 hour class. During this time, you’ll be guided through the game in a clear, supportive way with opportunities to ask questions and practice as we go.

You’ll understand the flow of the game, how to read the card, and how to start building and playing a hand. Most importantly, you’ll feel confident enough to keep playing.
